Omari was born and raised in NYC. After a brief stint at New York University studying Computer Science, he was licensed as a Baptist minister at Burke Avenue Baptist Church and completed a degree in Biblical Studies at The Criswell College in Dallas. After deciding to become a walking enigma (a Black Presbyterian!), he graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte with a Master of Divinity. Omari proudly served as a founding ruling elder with Christ Central Church before starting a chapter of Reformed University Fellowship at UNC Charlotte from 2009 to 2012. For almost three years, Omari was an associate pastor and community group director at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan before his pastoral service with a Resurrection Brooklyn Church site in Biggie Smalls’ old neighborhood. He returned to Christ Central in 2017, where he now serves as Assistant Pastor.
A proud native of The Bronx, New York, and sometimes a coffee snob, Omari enjoys outdoor leisure activities, reading anything that awakens wonder, and can’t get enough of discovering places, food, and entertainment with his wife, Cherise. He and Cherise have been married since 2004 and have three children, Mia, Preston, and Aaron.
